boxboy Jr. (Cardboard Box Adventures)
I used to love collecting the leftover cardboard boxes from packages as a kid. These boxes would become my next adventure. My imagination turned these cardboard structures into castles, spaceship command centers, flying trains and whatever else I thought of. This was the start of me wanting to travel and see the world whenever I got the opportunity.
I was inspired by my son to illustrate this important phase of my childhood. I wanted him to see a character that looked like him traveling the world and using his imagination as the starting point. So I created this character called (boxboy Jr.). He’s a Cuban and African American mixed boy who uses a cardboard box as a vehicle to journey through his imagination.
